She’s not been gone for long, and you might not even know her, but she’s back on BBC 2 with her own show…
Congrats on getting your show back, and on BBC2…
I know! When I turned up I thought they were gonna be like ‘Oh it’s you! Sorry we wanted June Sarpong’…
Your last show was on BBC3, your climbing the ladder…
On BBC3 I could make mistakes because it’s a bit underground. There was talk of going on primetime on BBC1 but it’s not me. I’d have to water the show down and do a black version of My Family with canned laughter.
You’re a bit like Take That and All Saints, making a comeback right?
Haha, no! But every show I do is goes to a bigger audience. I do interviews and people are like ‘Who are you?’ people have to be reminded. It does feel like I’m always coming back better.
I have the feeling you’re more of a Spice Girls fan.
I would love to go and see them. I prefer them with age. I’m loving with Mel B on Dancing With The Stars, oh stop! Mel does the splits, and goes through the guy’s legs. I want to see her on stage, she’ll say to Mel C ‘Honey, mama knows how to back flip too now!’.
How do you research your characters?
Most of it is from my imagination but it’s all inspired by people I’ve met it might just be a line or a hairstyle.
Would you have gone on Celebrity Big Brother if hadn’t of been axed?
It would be the end of my career because people would think I’m a complete bitch. I watch it though, and it gets me mad. Makes me want to shake my TV but I don’t because it’s plasma.
