We’ve not seen Eating Out 2 yet, tell us what it’s about…

I playing it straight this time round to get the guy I want. In doing so I’m taken to an ex-gay meeting as I claim to be this reformed ex-gay who’s over cock and all about the vagina. I get to butch it up and watch the Game all because I want to nail the hot guy.

We’ve seen the trailer, did you get turned on kissing the hot guy?

No, I didn’t. It’s acting; I don’t see what the big deal is. At the end of the day its work, a job. You have to take it seriously, I’ve done this sort of thing before but some of the other actors could have been a bit more professional about it. There are people who have been on set for hours before you come in and say your lines so you have to be respectful of that. It just makes the day easier.

What’s it like working with Allan Brocka – he seems fun, we’ve interviewed him a couple of times…

He’s very talented; I have to thank him for giving me my start. He saw me on Idol and he saw me as Kyle – though I still had to audition. He’s wonderful, knows what he wants and I hope we get to work together again.

We asked him if he was into threesomes, he said yes… How about you?

I… I… errr have never had one. So I don’t know if I would like it. BUT I think if it were the right situation I’d be into it. I just got out of a relationship so… It would depend on the people, it would have to be three single people (including me). If the other two guys were cute and sweet and the moment was there, and alcohol was involved… Sure!

That’s random! I wouldn’t have girls in there. Paul Walker from the Fast and the Furious. I kind of like older guys, like Rob Lowe he’s aged really well. Daniel Craig is really hot… Bond! Rough around the edges sort of look.

That’s four in the bed now… Anyway… You’re pretty popular in the states, do young gay guys write to you about coming out?

Its intense, the minute I came out publically there was a great response. I felt that the kids coming out needed an outlet of somebody who was young and so responsible about their sexuality. I know what I was young I would have loved to have know somebody who was accessible like the guy next door. It’s a lot of responsibility, I’m not perfect and I make mistakes all the time. I don’t have all the answers but I hope I’m helping out.

How did you tell your parents you’re gay?

There was never a time that was right for me, I was gay bashed quite a lot when I was young and both my parents are deaf. I came out to my Mom when I was 18 and she’s fine with it. My dad was a little bit more difficult as he’s from Greece where the men over there are supposed to be more macho, the bread winners and you carry on the family name, but it stops with me. He loves me, but it takes time, he hasn’t seen my movies he won’t watch them. That’s fine I don’t need to shove it down his throat.  

Did you have an awkward phase at school? Any major fashion mess ups or disasters as a kid?

Totally, I was over weight as a kid. It was rough for me, when you come from a small town and you’re in high school you have to fit in one of the boxes. The jock, the geek, the band, theatre fag and I didn’t sit in any of those boxes and I got on with everybody. I got my brake lines cut on my car, all for nothing. It took a long time to convince people I wasn’t a monster. I got based more for my gayness rather than my weight. And now, in the gay community… If you’re not pretty you’re not getting laid which is a shame because there are some amazing people out there. People look at me now and are like “heeeyyyy, look at you” and I just turn around and say “you don’t even know what I had to do to get to this point!”

Well that’s part of it, that and crystal meth. I’m kidding!

If you could give one piece of advice about coming out to puffta readers what would it be to surviving…

If you’re going to choose to come out, take your time. Don’t put a time frame on it, the more you start to tell people there is a feeling of power and happiness but there is no rush so don’t feel you need to compete. Do what’s right for you. Your parents will never stop loving you. It’s not all martinis and being fabulous, there will be tough times.

What’s next for you?

New album! We’re pushing for a single in May or June and I want to bring my music over here for Christmas ’07. I want to test the waters over here, you guys are great at breaking artists and a show at G-A-Y would be great. I’m doing a new horror film, I’m going to be playing straight. It’s a kind of titty flick, kind of like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre meets the OC it’s totally going to work. New record, new movie and of course Idol is still out there.
