Amerie is taking control of the UK charts again with her new single Take Control. Puffta: What was your inspiration for your new video? It reminds us of Bridget Fonda in the Assassin!
Amerie: It actually came from the movie Blow Up which is about a photographer who accidentally captures a murder plot on film and I took that and blew up the female character, the espionage and intrigue behind her. I’m a secret agent who has to assassinate a corrupt senator.

Puffta:  Where did Take Control come from? Our bezzie mate George of AXM fame, said that you’re a bit of a control freak – but in your new single, you want somebody to take control of you. Which is it?
Amerie: I think all women like control, we’re independent these days – I think even the most ambitious woman likes to keep her traditional role and take a step back in her home life. I think women choose the partners they do. I think a woman always want to be taken control of. But Take Control is about taking control of the relationship.

Puffta:  So, if you had to take control what would be your ideal date?
Amerie: It has to be the tried and trusted dinner and a movie; but you have to be careful not to do it too late because if you eat too much too late there is no movie… (We thought Amerie was going to say something naughty) Because I get sleepy and I’m ready to go home!

Puffta:  How about if your date took you to Starbucks for a coffee – what would you order? Something foamy and filling or do you go for those skinny lattes?
Amerie: I always have a soy Chai Tea Latte (they’re exotic and spicy). I make them myself, throw in the chai tea into some soy milk, add a dash of vanilla powder, they’re so good. I have to limit myself how many times I have them.

Puffta: How long does it take you to get ready to go out?
Amerie: If it’s an event that’s being televised I have a whole team who help me out with my hair and makeup. If it’s a red carpet event most of the time I do it myself, it’s very relaxing .

Puffta: What about the products – who helps out the most?
Amerie: I love MAC Lipstick and Dermo Doctor, it’s this great body exfoliator ever.  It’s kinda like a dermoabrasion product, sugar scrub, but finer. You’d be surprised if you use it, your skin feels so soft.

Puffta:  Would you kiss a guy on the first date?
Amerie: I think it’s best to wait. Give him a kiss on the cheek if he deserves it at the end of the date.

Puffta:  Do you like public displays of affection – would you snog your man in a restaurant?
Amerie: SNOGGING! I believe in PDA so yeah, definitely.

Puffta:  What kind of guys do you go for?
Amerie: He’s got to be sure of himself and truthful, honest. That’s the most important thing to me, and looks are there too, but honestly they’re not supa-dupa important. The more you get to know someone the better they look.

Puffta: So when the relationship comes to an end, what’s your best break up tip?
Amerie: [Laughs] I think it’s best to slash his tires. Kidding! You should leave with dignity, change your number and don’t speak to him. It denies him closure which will torture him forever.
